Saturday, June 22: Light Straw Clay Event in Walnutport

All are welcome and no professional experience, membership, or otherwise certification are required! We will teach you and guide you – just bring your working hands and open heart! Project Overview Treichler’s Project is a ground floor, basement-level renovation with hand-hewn exposed floor beams. The three exterior walls have been removed and the site is actively being prepared to install light straw clay walls. Light straw clay walls and larsen truss frames are an alternative construction method to conventional fiber glass or foam insulation, dry wall and stick framing. Larsen truss frames are an alternative to conventional stick framing. It is used to support the light straw clay in-fill until it cures to form a wall. Once the wall is cured and set, a finishing plaster is applied. The light straw clay wall in-fill is a combination mixture with a variety of materials including straw and clay, naturally! This natural material is highly insulative and, in its final form, aesthetically attractive. Come learn more about it at the workshop!!
